• Yeah, they'll work. I have a brand new one here for the gravel bike when I kill the rear Venture.

Then again being a relative noob should I get something more grippy and less fast rolling / speed oriented? I can always stick fast rolling tyres on for racing and use more knobbier, thicker more durable stuff for everyday use - thoughts?

If you're planning to race on it, ride on it everyday first, so you know what it's like

Would you really want to start a race on a tyre that doesn't grip as well as you're used to?

  • If I planned to enter a race, I wouldn't be sticking the race tyres on it a week before the race. I may have said "noob" but this isn't my first rodeo. I'm not likely to race an MTB for months, maybe years so I think starting with a more durable option for now will be fine.

The Vittorias are slightly cheaper and I've still got to ride up stuff as well as down so I'm leaning more towards them.
