• In looking for a large frame for a student of mine (an excuse to spend hours trawling the local classifieds here in Veneto) I stumbled across what looks like a decent condition 80's road frame, made by Giubilato, a frame maker based in Bassano del Grappa, about 40km away. It's made of low-end Columbus Zeta, but is chromed and has Gipiemme dropouts so I thought may be a suitable candidate for a singlespeed city bike (which is something I absolutely do not need). Being a 58, it is unfortunately a bit too small for my student, but, as if by fate, is exactly the right size for me.

I'm picking up the frame this week, but managed to find a very similar example on SVB, which I'm sure was sold for a very reasonable price (crying tears of laughter.gif).

My plan was to use the parts I have carefully stored in my parts box shoved under my girlfriend's shoes and as a result, I'm hoping I can use the following:

    1. Ambrosio rims and Shimano 6500 hubs, got some tyres that fell behind the wardrobe
    2. Scapin (or Bianchi) branded Flite
    3. 3ttt handlebars
    4. 3ttt Scapin branded stem (or an ITM one)
    5. 3ttt Scapin branded seatpost (may be too large, 27.2mm)
    6. Pedals, got a few

Which would mean I'd need to find some brakes, headset, crankset, BB, chain and sort the cog/cassette. Is it worth the hassle, and potential/probable girlfriend inflicted agony? Any advice, even if it is just "stop buying bikes"?
