  • Dynamo rear lights where /how can you fit them to a Brompton if you don’t have a rear rack? Can it sit where the rear reflector normally is? And how long does the cable need to be to run from front light to rear, and still let the bike fold?
Also any rear lights recommended for bromptons/better for bromptons? Or just get whichever one I like?

Too low IMO, I only have front dynamo and a rear blinker on the saddle rails

  • Mounts in the same place as the reflector - I think it needs 50mm bolt spacing rather than 80 (but that's from memory - check first!). If you're going to take it on trains, the standard Brompton Dyno rear (rebadged Spanninga Solo IIRC) has a standlight but no way to short the capacitor. Showing a red light on a platform is a no-no, so you end up having to cover it on platforms, which is a pain. I replaced mine with a B+M Topline Plus (with a 'kill standlight' button) which is fine, apart from the fact that the connectors are on the other side of the light to the solo, so the standard wiring loom is a bit on the short side. Wouldn't be a problem if installing from scratch. IMO the light placement isn't a problem - if you're close enough to a car that they can't see it (e.g. in stop-start traffic), then they should be able to see you, and if they're not looking, then I'm not sure a light will make any difference. I do have a blinky under the saddle, but that's just a backup - I don't normally have it on.
