    Most people aren't as mentally tough I'd bet, 4 weeks isn't that long to get used to riding on the limit in that position.

  • I meant more from a physiological perspective, the gains in power will likely be better if you are training at a higher power.

    Oh, RPE inflation. Riding a turbo inflates the rate of perceived exertion.

  • Ahhh ok got you. Can't quite bring myself to go do threshold efforts in the cold and wet on a TT bike quite yet, I plan to still like cycling by the summer.

    Have done some max efforts 45-60 minutes (KM test protocol) so I have a good idea where my watts are for that kind of effort on the extensions, but so far anything above sweetspot I'm sitting back up on the hoods when the RPE gets too high down in position.

    e.g. 5 x 10 just above threshold yesterday, managed the first 2 intervals in position but during third I had to sit up and finish the session off sitting up.
