  • I thought of that exact kickstand idea for my dadbike, but with rivnuts as I have an alu frame.

Did not follow through as I thought it wouldn't be stong enough to hold as the only contact point is on the bottom of the chainstay tubing. Was advised to go completely through the tube which is not possible with rivnuts.

I'm a big fan of your work, but seeing this I actually do think you should make a bushing that goes all the way through the chainstays. Making it possible to braze both top and bottom of the bushing to the complete height of the chainstay.

  • Thanks. I understand your concern.
I have bored out 10mm diameter for both bottle cage bosses. This allows the mounting plate to be pulled all the way down to the chainstays. The forces of the kickstand will be spread onto the chainstays instead of going into the bottle cage bosses. I think/feel/hope.
    Also silver is amazingly strong.
But I'll think it over and maybe do as you suggest. On the other hand the consequences of this failing is minimal and I'd like to know if it will work know... Hmmm
