I've bought a fair few second hand boots and a few of them have been duds due to the previous owner having a very different footbed compared to mine, or they've had a botched resole which looks good on images but made the whole boot wonky
One pair I had to resole to get the footbed right which ended up costing me more than a new pair...

Don’t guess. Buy them from a local shop if you can afford to - it’ll be worth it in the long run from an after sales support perspective. American Classics is a great shop where they know red wing’s better than anyone else.
