Not a "large" payment in comparison to some of that chat in here but what are my options for sub £50K from Natwest in one day? Just CHAPS over the phone?

Last time I did this for a similar amount I paid for CHAPS.

~£20 for a Chaps payment (3pm cut-off, same working day), or if you're a personal customer then break it into payments on separate days, or use a challenger bank to re-group the payments first if it has to go as one transaction. Revolut free personal account is good for this (insured up to £85k).
Natwest might try to sell you 'Bankline' over the phone but it's nothing special (£20 a month for business features/limits for personal customers).

Yep, payment rails will make a difference, sending a CHAPS payment online is news to me as this was only over the phone/in-branch previously.
If anyone wants bank-specific workarounds for sending large payments then shout.
