• Yeah it is an issue but can be resolved quite easily. Gimme a shout if you want to know what to do.

  • To confirm, you're saying it's still an issue on newer models? https://www.autodoc.co.uk/info/hdi-e-hdi-bluehdi

My understanding is a complete change of filter/oil every 9000 miles, plus a very specific order of work for the fixes

Looking at Kangoo and even VW Caddy Life (latter a bit spendier than I'd like) but, fuck me, have barely seen one autotrader under 10k that doesn't have a ramp installed.

  • Have a google and see what comes up.

What BQ said as prevention is better than cure. So check for loose injectors, and then maybe lift the cam cover and clean out any carbon build up. Clean the gauze out in the turbo feed pipe and reprime the pipe.

Then a few short oil and filter changes around 1k miles trying to do long journeys to actually get the hot oil circulating, I use purflux filters from GSF or french supermarkets and buy 25l of of the right spec mannol motor oil. Every other oil short oil change check the gauze in the turbo feed pipe as the idea is to remove the carbon build up already there.
