Suppose they thought they had to make their field watch look a bit different.
Its a Longines tradition to use 5 stars to signify a watch with a COSC certified movement. Not done on all of their high end movements but they have been doing it on and off for decades I think. There's a theory that the 5 star logo is particularly popular in the Chinese market.
