I get them weekly, folk who do clever jobs but don't get it, you buy stolen stuff, its stolen, not yours and you are funding crime, so if course they'll be off to get another one.
They have their bike stolen for whatever reason (often after being directly told their cable lock is no good), they then go and buy something suspicious off usual places. Latest, guy went and bought a bike from a tracksuit wearing child at he back of a tesco 24 for £70
Brought it into me to be checked over, was a basically new £800 giant hybrid. Told him it was very likely stolen and to hand it into police.
He looked so utterly dumbfounded as i trued to explain how he can help stop this happening.
Had a former colleague who was the same. He bought an almost new Spec Roubaix at a car boot sale for about 30% of new cost but decided that because HE didn’t nick it, he was in the clear morally speaking.
