  • So Robin at BLB got in touch with me when a REALLY badly sprayed Cinelli Mash Work came through their doors for repair of a rear flat (it was tubeless, derp).

It was familiar so I checked back a few pages here and found the one that had been pinched from the garden of @Sam_hell

I knew the guy was due back for the bike so was a bit of a race against time to confirm ownership (Sam hadn't been on the forum for two months) and get down to BLB to stop bike being lost a second time.

Met up with Sam at London Fields and we went to BLB together. As we were checking out the bike the new buyer and GF came back.

That cued up a tense hour while we waited for the Police to arrive and tell the guy what I told him in the first thirty seconds of meeting him:
"That bike isn't going home with you and the original owner won't be replacing the money you spent when you bought a near new bike, costing north of 1G for £350, in cash, on a street corner".

The circular discussion got boring pretty quickly and I just stopped talking while making sure the exits were inconveniently blocked.

Bike is now back with the owner, in structurally sound condition, in DIRE need of cleaning up.

  • Thief rattlecanned it poorly, purchaser of stolen property did a marginally better job of the frame and forks (but then went and painted the spokes, hubs, cranks - WTF?).
