if you go via Braemar be sure to stop at The Bothy Braemar, also a decent outdoors shop called Braemar Mountain Sports
Could follow the old military road up from Spittal of Glenshee, stopping at Loch Callater, with Callater Lodge Bothy; worth a stop if you are not using bnb/hotel
