Check the spline depth. Because the 7800 hub design had already been dumped before 6700 was released, the compatibility charts are silent on the question, but Shimano may have carried over the 7800 compatibility from 6600, since 6700 would probably have been signed off before they saw the error of their ways re. 7800.

That’s very kind but I think I was mistaken in thinking I had a 6700 cassette on the wheel. It was just a 6700 lockring and a 5600 cassette probably.

I thought I’d replace a cassette this evening. Turns out I’m stuck with Ultegra 6700 cassettes forever ... or replacement wheels.
