  • That is extra shitty about the new mtb, news article says it replaces another bike stolen last year. Guy is not having a good time despite all the good kharma he's put out there.
Hopefully it finds its way back, with enough eyes out there it's possible.
Up in Central Scotland is quite popular to be followed home from glentress /inners/other popular mtb centres all the way home. They either swoop and cut bikes off roof /boot racks when you stop for post ride /drive home caffeine requirements or all the way home, note your address and flat position then return shortly after.
Had a mate who was followed down to his farm, became blatant that he was being followed by they were quite bold and wouldn't just give up. Went to a mates house in the next town and they just sat outside with car/bikes on roof for half an hour until the 4x4 went away.
Another had their mtb robbed from roof of car (upper end thule rack, using thule lock only), they'd visited family not far from me, parked outside tenement, rang bell, went into stairwell and into flat, 1st floor, went to window to look out and point at car "is it ok to leave it there"
Two guys with a van parked across their car ripping the roofrack off in one piece. Mate reckons it was around 45 to 75 seconds from turning back on car as they entered building to going oh shit, and then running downstairs.
Van gone, heavy traffic and no idea which way it went. They drove about foe a while and asked all the residents if they saw the reg or had house cctv.. Nothing.
My crappy old mtb goes with me in boot of volvo, Windows almost blacked out. Pita when its filthy. Obviously smaller cars and modern 8' long enduro monsters its not really possible.
