Looks ace, what is the reason for dropped chainstays from the bb?

Increased tyre clearance whilst keeping the chain stays short and also according to Tom allows him to make them slightly lighter and stronger. He used to just spec his gravel builds with the dropped stay but now its standard on all his bikes.
