@Cupcakes
I have two wheelsets built with Novatec D792DB rear hubs. I bought the hubs from an eBay seller and had them hand built (I laced and the LBS tensioned and trued).
One of the hubs has what looks like a plastic/rubber o-ring between freehub and hub shell. If this is left in place, tightening the axle means the freehub starts to bind. This happens irrespective of the orientation of the 0-ring. If I remove the o-ring the issue disappears.
The other hub doesn't have the o-ring. No binding issues.
If I swap the o-ring onto the other hub, it experiences the same issue.
What's going on here? Have I mistakenly added an o-ring from my parts bin and forgotten about it? Could the hubs have been sent with the wrong parts? Am I installing it incorrectly?
I've not yet had any luck finding a legible and labelled exploded diagram of this hub model.
@cycleclinic thought you might know the answer to this one. The freehubs are Type B2 11 speed Shimano alloy 4 pawl, no ABG, if that makes any difference.
