  • I saw a owl yesterday afternoon, hunting in bright sunshine near the sewage works.

  • I'm told Owls mate, lay eggs and fledge earlier than most (UK) birds.
    It may well have a nest of hungry owlets to satisfy.

  • I've been back to my folks in Oxfordshire a fair bit recently and regularly seen the local barn own out hunting in daylight. Pretty sure we're still a bit away from egg-laying (mid-april is average I think) I'd put the daytime activity down to recent bad weather so they need to make the most of available hunting/flying time...
