Cycle Surgery, formerly Beta Bikes and before that Freewheel, was at the top end of West End Lane, by Fortune Green. Whiskers was in Willesden Lane, on the other side of the Kilburn High Road. It's not that far but I would not say it was 'just round the corner'.
