New 16 incher looks perfect. Glad they fixed the keyboard and made it a bit thicker for the cooling to have something to work with.

Also, base spec having 6 core i7, 16GB ram / 512GB SSD is decent.

..they also made it a bit thicker as they actually went back to the old (thicker) 'scissor' type keyboard

(just read an article quoting iFixit that the new "magic" keyboard is very much the design of the 2015 iMac keboards)

Good. That alone is reason to get one.

I’ve somehow managed to avoid the entire lifespan of the butterfly mechanism.

That’s interesting as the butterfly keyboard is crap. Is the scissor coming to the 13”, or only the larger ones?
