For manual a8 or a11 are great, prefer derailleur gears myself (less drag), but if your thinking of going electric assist in the future (mid drive) then the N5 is what you want, more sturdy and allows powered shifts instead of the usual "back off, change gear, back on" that you should observe with a8 and a11 gear hubs. Also if you ever do wreck it, they are much cheaper to replace.
Nexus 7 I haven't really used.
