OK cool...and then underneath? Dig out the soil/sand/aggregate to 8 inches or so and fill it with gravel? Nothing else to consider?

Yeah. That's what I'd do.
If it's likely the gravel trap has some sort of special soakaway maybe try and put a slight slope towards it.
OK I'll dig the trap under the door slightly shallower than the original area to encourage water flow in that direction. Cheers! Just tried to rent a grinder from HSS but the nearest one is bloody miles away. A job for Saturday.
