Carefully cut in a straight line, then chisel out.
OK cool...and then underneath? Dig out the soil/sand/aggregate to 8 inches or so and fill it with gravel? Nothing else to consider?

Yeah. That's what I'd do.
If it's likely the gravel trap has some sort of special soakaway maybe try and put a slight slope towards it.
