  • Possible. But only if it's a new slab in the porch. That other one has been there a while.

    @Quincy

    When you get the chance, can you take up the carpet in the porch (assuming it's easily done) and take a photo of the state of the floor under it?

  • I've taken the carpet up. There was a lot of concrete dust underneath (fourth photo). Gave that a sweep (second photo), which exposed a couple of damp areas. One under the door and one in the corner, where the porch joins the original external wall.

  • That pretty much confirms my suspicions.

    Long term I would advise you to take up the concrete and replace it so that whatever new paving you get falls away from the house.

    In the short term you need to find a way to stop the water ingress and dry out what is there. If you can post a photo of the area underneath the front door sill I should be able to give you some ideas (it may be as simple as a bit of dry packing or silicone). Also either hiring or buying a de-humidifier to put in the porch for a while will help dry out the walls.

    Edit. Are those paving slabs in the porch?
