I’m no Brompton expert, but I’ve recently completed 5k London kilometres on mine, including expeditions to the Epping hills and whatnot, and if I was buying again I’d go wide-range three-speed with a slightly bigger than standard chainring—the derailleur is bobbins. And fine-tuning ratios, which is all that gadget is really good for, isn’t worth the bother.
