Depends on local laws, assuming you're talking about "walking the red". Me, I wouldn't want to get off the bike. Mounting and dismounting = pain so the short time I could save is probably lost again due to discomfort.
So the road that has raised the question has regular pedestrian crossings (non traffic light) but vehicles have to go considerably further.
Is that because of a one-way system? It would help if you could show us the location.
