Does anyone have any great ideas for protein while camping/backpacking?
beans, legumes are not ideal as they either contain too much water/come in tins (-> too heavy to carry), need cooking/soaking for hours (not really practical), or need a dehydrator (I don't have one)
fake meat products, tofu, etc. needs refrigerating
nuts are fine but you need to eat quite a lot of them and they restrict your "cooking" somewhat
grainy things like cous cous are great but the protein content is quite low
green lentils cooks pretty quick, that and rice is a complete protein.
Tofu products last for days out of a fridge in my experience.
quinoa is spendy but a good choice for protein
