I was experiencing something of a nightmare with Velox tape warping and exposing spoke holes a few years ago... In searching for a solution, I came upon a recommendation of Kapton tape at 1mm wrapped twice around the rim.
I can't express properly how much I adore this solution... I have been using two wraps of Kapton tape on all of my wheels (90-120 psi) ever since and have been properly impressed.
What's special about Kapton tape over the other, say, tubeless tape? Seems spendy compared to Tesa tape for example. Sounds like non-conductive electrical tape.
