2019-01-29 Rider down (murder), Caledonian Road

A murder whose motive is unconfirmed at this stage:

Witnesses claimed he had refused to hand over his bicycle before he was attacked with a weapon described as a “Rambo” knife.

I'm posting it here because Nedim Bilgin was out on his bike when it happened. He was only 17.

It happened just 350 yards from where 15-year-old schoolboy Alan Cartwright was stabbed to death as he cycled along the road in February 2015.

Edit--the Guardian reports that:

Police do not believe the motive behind the attack was robbery. A bicycle was found close to the scene, but detectives are trying to establish who it belonged to and whether the victim had been riding one before the attack.
