You know there's a middle ground between a Clio and and Transit, right?
Unless you're actually going to use the extra space on a regular basis just get something which will take your bikes with the front wheels off. Then use a tent. A normal car has the advantage of having back seats if you want to go somewhere with mates.

I don't have mates...
Just kidding. Actually after fleshing it out with the missus, we're thinking of trying car free living for a few months. There are a lot of zipcar/zipvan's around us to avail of, and we've only put 7k miles on the clio in 26 months, 3k of which was three drives home to Ireland.

Anyone ever owned a caddy/kangoo/transit connect style panel van as an only car?
Have loved owning my clio trophy for the past 2 and a bit years but getting very tired of bikes on the roof and never actually driving it how it's meant to be driven, so looking at trading in for a small panel van. Obviously has to be euro 6 for ulez, not sure if I'd go kombi or just 2 seats, but would love to fully insulate the back and use it as an all round bike/camping/outdoor utility vehicle.
