How does the matte black finish stand up to street use?

Matte black factory powder coat on my Pursuit Champion is brilliant (resists chips, stays matte) but my partner's black (2015 IIRC) Pre Cursa chips and glosses up at the slightest knock.
Maybe the paint finish has improved since then.
