  • You could easily cycle to Paris on that now if it's comfy. Also, maybe ask one of the mods to move this to the Current Projects section of the forum.

By 'advice', do you mean tell you what parts to buy?

  • Thank you, I don't know much about bike parts in general, and the ones I should buy. Any brand of brakes in particular, etc. And it's not comfortable enough for a long ride yet unfortunately, looking for adjustments to make it better.

  • What's uncomfortable about it?

You probably want to get some drops on there and see how the position is, try some shorter/longer stems, maybe some different saddles as I know that saddles I find very comfortable on a bike with drops can be horrendous when I put flat bars on the same bike and vice versa.

Before you fit drops you'll need to think about brake levers and shifters. If you go for STIs then you'll be pretty much limited to cantilevers as I'd doubt mini Vs would fit over those tyres. I've found Shimano LX canti's pretty good and plenty cheap. I've swapped to more modern Avid Shorty cantis on my commuter recently as I wanted something that worked with v brake style pads but I'm not impressed by the power I'm getting out of them so will be putting the Shimanos back on as soon as I can.
