Yeah can do. Basically I have 2x 7402 gearsets and I only need one, but I want to keep the nicer one.

Whats the deal with compatibility between the 74** sets? I like the cranks and building a 1x TT frame and looking to get a rear mech to match a freewheel hub

OMGfun! I had to find all this out.

7400 is 6-speed, 7401 is 7-speed and 7402 is 8-speed, basically. As far as I know, this mainly affects the rear shifting. And with friction mode, you might be able to mix and match.
