Given his age and the ban, he’s not coming back to pro tour so has no one to defend as such. One of the more high profile people to have been caught...If he says nothing, then the commenters will still say that he is on Team Sky’s hush fund, despite being 2 teams since.
After Sky, getting 1 year contracts and finding difficult to get results to have extensions for the last years of his career, he’s probably got tempted, and got popped.

It’s very difficult to hide from the bio-passport test regime, essentially you’d have to be micro dosing with EPO from your first bio-passport test and continue until you retire. Which is possible of course, but takes a high level of commitment and logistics.
