Cycle shoe care

. How do you care for your cycling shoes? I don't really. I suppose recently I've been putting toe covers on in the autumn and leaving them on constantly till spring unless it's really wet and I'm replacing them with full over shoes. I do ride with full, long guards so my shoes won't be getting as hard a time of it as some.

. How often do you purchase cycling shoes? Do you throw them away when they are tatty, or restore them? Every few years. A lot less regularly than trainers.

. Would you be interested in a product that can change the colour? (from white to bright pink, black to white etc) Not really. I've triued shoe/leather paints before and they were shite. I've painted shoes (leather creepers, not used heavily or often) with rattlecan paint and been pretty happy wit the results so if I wanted to change the colour I'd just try that again.

. Do you find your shoes get smelly? What do you do to combat this problem? Not really. Don't know why as I have trainers and walking boots that do but it's never seemed to be a problem with cycling shoes.

. How do you clean your cycling shoes? I don't, see above re full guards and toe cover/overshoes so I don't find I need to.

. Are there any problems you have with your shoes relating to any of the questions above? Yes, well, kinda. I have a pair of shoes that fit me really well and while they are a few years old they are in pretty good nick apart from one of the velcro straps needs a repair. I can't find anything about shoe repairs of this type on the internet, google just returns results relating to resoling cycling shoes, mostly with five ten stealth rubber. I'm sure it'd be an easy enough job, and would mean I could continue using these shoes which I know fit well instead of trying to find a new pair that are as comfy but I just don't know where to look to get it done.
