So I got some Pitlock security skewers because, East London and all. Got the protective caps to add to them because of all the dirt that I worried getting in and getting crammed into the nut... however the caps themselves have locked after only about a month, maybe two. They were only hand screwed, initially very loosely as I did wonder how the hell the manufacturer intended them to be removed - then tightened slightly by hand as they were literally rattling.
Now I've got a flat on the rear I've got no choice but to address these, and for the past month I've tried wd40, rubber straps + pliers and rubber gloves to no avail. I'm not sure of any other solutions. Local bike shops quoted £20-60+ with no upper limit due to time which is a bit of a silly amount for a student, on what will be relegated to a beater bike.
With Pitlock and Wiggle unwilling to cover this expense, any other suggestions, or anyone got anything to grind down some points to bite on around E London or so?
