Nope - it's a K5 1000. I've always shied away from shocks because of the gas too but it actually looks simple enough. You just need to take it somewhere with a N tank afterwards to pressurise it. They're mostly full of oil, there's only a tiny bit of diaphragm with any gas in.
Should run me about $275 with the spring and the valve and will make a massive difference. Hell even a straight rebuild will make a big difference as the shock on there has 50k on it!

That's decent shiz that. Will it change geometry a bit? The SV is on 60k now and feels better damped than the old one.
Saying that though, after the miles I've put on it, I've started learning what I want out of it. Right now Ideally, rear slightly higher and front slightly lower. When exiting corners, the front feels a little loose winding the throttle on, so might drop it a couple of mm. Not ideal I know; I'd love to do a whole GSXR front end conversion and start track days on it.

Yusss. That sounds like a bargain for mucho performance.
Doing the same at the moment and just sourced a zx10r shock that should fit into my bike without any modding. First shock I bought was re-sprung with a stiffer spring so just sold it.
Always thought it was a difficult job getting it re-pumped.
Is it a SRAD?
