Startpage and DuckDuckGo are both supposed to be anonymous, and not saved searches. If you want to be anonymous on the internet, it’s hard, but depending on your threat level, things you can do include, but are not limited to:
Use TOR
Use a VPN
Use multiple hop VPN's
The above in a virtual machineAlso need to use careful browsing habits though. Don’t log into account when you do any of the above or they will know things. The TOR website has a good FAQ including https://www.torproject.org/docs/faq.html.en#AmITotallyAnonymous

This has some useful info

Managing things like cookies (i.e. tracking) is probably worth thinking about
More generally you might want to put a paper bag over your head if ever you look at anything in public within range of a security camera

Cheers for advice earlier. I'll get the NordVPN methinks.
But if I could trouble you to bear with me for a bit longer; my particular paranoia is potential future denials of health insurance based on my internet searches of today. I.e. me typing "symptoms of high blood pressure" into Startpage today, and then an insurance company somehow finding out about it and using it to deny me treatment for gooch cancer in the year 2032.
What else do I need to cover my tracks?
