It was very, very psychedelic. We had candles and oil wheels, strobes going, sometimes just total darkness in the studio. You'd get totally disorientated, no daylight, no time frame.
Sounds like the teenage attic I had at the time I was dropping acid and listening to that very LP.

About recording Spirit of Eden. I mix that up with Laughing Stock, which is also brilliant.
I didn't realise he'd been such an influence on modern hipsterdom, but it makes sense.
