• Generally hate hydraulics - the extra tools you need, toxic poison, ting, ting, ting in shitty weather etc so prefer cable discs. Set up a new rigid MTB over the weekend with TRP Spykes. Very impressed so far. Really, really easy to set up compared to BB7's, a bit pricey, but feel on a par with the hydraulics I've tried in the past/got on my CX bike (Rival). Also thumbs up for Marathon Plus - never had a puncture with them in 10 years of riding in London.

  • Interesting, I've not had any issues so far, running Shimano deore on a mtb, TRP Hylex on my commuter and Sram CX1 Rival on 'fast bike', I genuinely couldn't fault them at all. I did have to get a replacement lever for the TRPs after a piston failed, but after 3ish years of daily use they're still super reliable.

Can see what you mean about ease of fettling of cable discs though.
