Sadly not anymore on, KMC 10 speed chains at least. The pins are slightly flared at the ends. When you push them through the side plates you'll see a tiny circular sliver of metal has broken off and remains on the tip of the chain tool. You can drive the pin back through but the chain is weakened. I gave it a go against advice as I thought with my sparrow like legs it would be fine but the chain did indeed break - only chain I've ever snapped.

This baffles me, using a chain tool to add some links back on to a chain is a mundane task that just works, no need for bodging
