Good luck with your cats becoming friends!
I grew up with a lot of cats and there were always some dying and then others joined the group and long story short you just can't force it, sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't..
I cat-sitted for a friend two years ago who got three that don't like each other at all, that was a pain, you always had to seperate them at dinner time otherwise the strongest / bulliest one would eat all their food.
Cats can be assholes!
