Once you get your first one booked in, at my place you can book the next donation while you're having a cup of juice and a custard cream before the slots are on general release. That's probably why they are all so booked up.

Book online and you can often book way in advance (2 or 3 appointments in the future). Just make sure you leave the requisite time between appointments.
(I used to do this until they stopped the mobile van that was my regular donation spot right next to work. Without that midweek option I find it hard to combine blood donation and heavy running training. I need to have a word with myself.)

My local venues are all booked up for months, next appointment is in March, and I got the last slot.
Might have to start going to their permanent place in W1 before heading out to Essex
