1. Does it have mid point mudguard braze ons?
2. What sort of compatible tyre size are we talking about here?

Midfork no, mudguard mounts are at the fork ends
I have only had it a few weeks and haven't used a big tyre in it so can't say for sure but definitely big.
It came from Hulsroy initially as seen here
