  • I am moderately sceptical because (a) that hasn't been being shouted from the rooftops, and there is plenty of pro-breixt press etc who I assume would love to publish that kind of "we don't need them" good news; and (b) when he quit he said he'd visited 35 countries. Big discrepancy.

    That said, who knows... Not saying it couldn't be true

  • Yes, I did wonder why the only mention of this was an off the cuff comment on twitter. It seems like good news in a process that is decidedly short of that so I'm not sure why so little of it has been mentioned.

  • It could be that trade with the EU makes up the largest part of our trade (deficit) so finding 50 smaller countries who agree to roll over our current terms is not as big a problem as the potential for WTO trade with EU nations.
