Nah it's all plug and play man. Ridiculously easy.
The only reason people are faffing about in this thread is because they want to build bikes that fall between the normal road / mtb groupsets

That isn't the problem
The issue for me is that the correct rear mech was meant to be available four weeks ago, was then delayed to this week and now might arrive just before xmas. So I expect to have my winter bike completed by spring time at this rate.

I dunno, bikes are great because they're so simple. With a mechanical group I can switch cables meself etc and make it work again. Junction boxes, firmware, electrical stuff ... All seems to complicate matters somewhat ... Just needs an update progress bar stuck at 98%, and you are right where everything else in life is heading, which is the internet of shit. And I say this as a software developer.
