• looking for advice or opinions on my proposed CX wheelset now i have upgraded to a disc bike for the coming CX season, i'm a 88 kg rider and pack finisher in the local leagues. My planned build is 32h Stans Iron Cross, Sapim race spokes laced 3x to D771 and 772 hubs. I'm expecting the build to weigh 1640g and the cost to be £259

  • Kinlin XR22RTS is cheaper nearly as wide internally, can handle 1200N without washers 1300N with unlike the stans rim which has a tension limit of 95kgf or 930N which means I would refuse to build all but single speed wheels with this and then I would still not want too.
It is also can handle 120psi unlike the stans with a max of 39 psi so you can fit narrow road tyres and use it on the road. also the rim maybe heavier but it alot stiffer so you can drop the spoke count to 28F/28R and save on weight of spokes. weight would be around 1700g

All round the kinlin is a better rim. If you build with the stans rim the wheels will go out a of true or stand a fair chance of doing.
