Ah yea then they probably mean stick to pedestrian doses and placebos. You can't 'overdose' on it*, and it will take months/years for negative effects on your organs - our contemporary lifestyle puts more of a strain on those organs than a NSAID anyway.
(*you can, but not easily and not like with other forms of drugs)
Go for 400's for two weeks and if there's no improvement double the dose for a week to see if it helps. Reality is after one month you shouldn't need to continue use unless it is a really bad long term injury.

cheers, 400mg three times per day sounds a little more reasonable.
It's for my knee - I've been to the physio already (and have another appmnt this week) and i'm doing stretches, foam rolling and glute exercises, as well as nightly massages from wife but have been told that an NSAID (such as ibuprofen) will be helpful too.
