Bonza, thanks @chez_jay for the suggestions. I've just hired a Dodge Ram pickup (£75 for three days) so will drive to the Raphe from San Jose, get changed in the cafe and head out from there, then drive back to the hotel and ride the local area the next day.
Now, parking a pickup in San Francisco is going to be easy on the weekend right?
