  • The classic SF rides all start via the waterfront or cut across Presidio, across the GG bridge, head West up Hawk Hill/Conzelman Road for amazing views of bay/city (also the most popular Strava segment in the world I think) to the headland, back down Bunker road.

From there head up through Sausalito to Mill Valley. There is a good dedicated cycle path some of the way. Then climb one of the quieter roads up to Four Corners and get on the Panoramic Highway. Head up and (optionally) do Mt Tamalpais all the way up to East Peak and back down the same way for MTB history.

Now you can do a c-cw loop involving down to Stinson Beach, along Shoreline Highway and up Muir Woods road. I think that's the normal direction.

I think that is about 50 miles in total with quite a lot of climbing if you included Mt Tamalpais.

You can extend that (which I haven't done) by going further North along Ridgecrest Blvd, featured in countless car ads, back along Shoreline Highway.

Or by heading up through Fairfax and round Alpine Lake reservoir.

PS you should have asked in the cafe on Sun, I was the newbie.
