If a crank has come loose it's probably fucked. If you see some rounding, any rounding, its definitely fucked.
It's my understanding that JIS and ISO tapers are exactly the same shape, the only difference being that one comes to a flat end and the other has a small chamfer at the end and thusly they measure differently.
